It extends to Potomac 20854 in the South, Rockville 20850 in the North and East and becomes Darnestown 20878 in the West.

History
Originally a wide expanse of farmland, the area has added several housing developments, often named after the farms they replaced. In the early 1980s, North Potomac was annexed from the City of Gaithersburg as a separate postal area.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 23,044 people, 6,924 households, and 6,245 families residing in the area. The population density was 3,522 per square mile. The racial makeup of the area was 64.64% White, 27.59% Asian, 4.21% African American, .13% Native American, .04% Pacific Islander, 1.08% from other races, and 2.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race represented 3.94% of the population. 29.1% of North Potomac’s residents were foreign born.
Out of all of the households, 60% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 79.9% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9.8% were non-families. The average household size was 3.33 and the average family size was 3.51. In the area, the population was spread out with 34.2% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18-24, 29.2% from 25-44, 27.2% from 45-64, and 3.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.8 males.
For population 25 years and over in North Potomac, 96.1% have a High School education or higher, 75.4% have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, 38.5% have a Graduate or Professional degree, and 2.3% are unemployed.
